"We found on average, it is almost five times more expensive to order delivery from a restaurant than it is to cook at home. And if you’re using a meal kit service as a shortcut to a home cooked meal, it’s a bit more affordable, but still almost three times as expensive as cooking from scratch." (Forbes) Which category do you fall into most weeks?
Restaurant, Meal Kit Delivery or Home cooked meals?
Restaurants:
What if you skipped ordering in 1 Meal per week(20$) = $780 saved per year. Let's do the math for the sake of doing so: if you were to reduce your delivery from a restaurant once a week you would save 15$ multiply that by 52 weeks and you have saved $780/year. (Do you have something fun you might like to pay for or do?) How many times a week do you order in? X x $780=____ So the question for you is: How will you use this money in 2020?
Meal Kit Deliver:
You saved money and used a meal kit delivery company? oh yeah?! Let's see how that works. Necessary info: They base their delivery on weekly delivery (8$/plate x 7) = 56$/week multiplied by 52 and you have saved $2912 per year. NB some companies expect a minimum of 2 servings per week so that is double $5824... (Do you like to travel?) How many times a month do you order a meal kit delivery service? X x $56=___ So my next question is: How does that make you react?
Cooking at home:
4$/plate. 7 meals. 28$/week/person. How would this improve you life?
